sports & deep tissue massage

Corrective massage therapy for everyday life. Injury rehabilitation and prevention.

Our bodies endure an assortment of aches and pains brought on by day-to day activities. Poor posture at work, lap tops, devices, sleeping positions & exercising all play there part. Regular sports, deep tissue massage and stretching can play a huge part in helping look after and maintain our flexibility, mobility and most of all, ourselves.

massage for injury

Injury can happen at any time, as we all know.  How we respond from an injury is vital to it’s recovery.  Whether you have suffered an muscular trauma from an accident, surgery or most commonly by chronic pain from poor posture or old reoccurring  injuries. It is essential that we try and find the root of the problem and treat this, rather than just the symptoms it produces.

sports massage

Every sport or exercise affects areas of the body, whether your are competing or for general exercise. You will feel immediately feel the benefits from receiving regular treatments, helping to improve muscle and joint flexibility to enhance your overall performance.

fascia, what is it?

Fascia is thin microscopic connective tissue. This tissue surrounds and encases every one of our muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones and organs, you could describe fascia as multi layered webs. It’s function is to connect and protects our whole body and keeps our muscles and organs in place.

Over time, the fascia in areas of our body become tight and stuck, restricting certain movements, limiting mobility and range of movement.  This could be due to many reasons, for example; If you are desk bask worker and you are curved over a lap top your neck and shoulders could be out their usual position to up to 8 hours a day.  Over time, the fascia will attach itself to this position creating tightness and restriction.  Have you ever felt that you can’t stretch you neck or shoulders back? The fascia build up could very well be the reason.

myofascial release

With all my sports & deep tissue sessions, I will always start treatment with myofascial release techniques. Releasing the thin connective tissue, using light stretching and deep extending strokes, using no oil, directly to the the skin, muscle or chronic injury.
